Pacers Promote Peter Dinwiddie To VP Of Basketball Operations

Peter Dinwiddie has been promoted by the Indiana Pacers to Vice President of Basketball Operations.

Dinwiddie will assist Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Kevin Pritchard and Pacers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh in various capacities, including compliance with the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, assisting in player contract negotiations, salary cap management and compliance with NBA player personnel rules. He is an Indianapolis native who attended Indiana University and has a degree from the New England School of Law.

"Peter is very bright, very intelligent, very thorough and extremely hard working," said Walsh. "Since I returned (in June) and have worked with him on a daily basis, his contributions have been immeasurable. This promotion recognizes his work for the Indiana Pacers. He has a tremendous future in the league."

Dale Osbourne Hired As Assistant Coach By Blazers

Terry Stotts has added Dale Osbourne to the coaching staff of the Portland Trail Blazers.

“I'm very excited about Dale joining our staff,” said Stotts. “His diverse coaching background and experience at the college and D-League level will be very valuable in the development of our younger players both on the court and off.”

Osbourne joins the Trail Blazers from the Tulsa 66ers, where he served as head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s NBA Development League affiliate.

Ime Udoka Hired By Spurs As Assistant Coach

Ime Udoka has been added to the San Antonio Spurs' coaching staff for the 12-13 season.

“Ime Udoka possesses an outstanding work ethic as well as a natural inclination to teach. We are excited to add someone with his potential to our coaching staff,” said Gregg Popovich.

Udoka played for the Spurs from 2007-09 and in the 10-11 season.

Cavaliers Promote Mike Gansey To Director Of D-League Ops

The Cleveland Cavaliers have promoted Mike Gansey to Director of Development League Operations and Cavaliers Basketball Operations Assistant.

Gansey, 29, spent the 2011-12 season as the Cavaliers basketball operations assistant. In his new position as the Cavaliers’ Director of Development League Operations/Cavaliers Basketball Operations Assistant, he will work closely with Cavaliers Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin and Canton Charge Head Coach Alex Jensen in the basketball operations and personnel matters of the Cavaliers’ exclusively owned and operated NBA Development League affiliate, as well as other general NBA Development League areas and player personnel elements.

Blazers Add Triano, Vanterpool, Hughes To Coaching Staff

Terry Stotts has added Jay Triano, David Vanterpool and Kim Hughes to his coaching staff with the Blazers.

“Jay, David and Kim bring a wealth of experience as coaches, players and front office personnel,” said Stotts. “I have always had a lot of respect for their basketball knowledge and they will be very valuable additions to our staff.”

Triano, 53, joins the Trail Blazers from the Toronto Raptors, where he most recently held the position of Vice President of Pro Scouting after serving as the team’s head coach from 2008-11 (87-142, .380). The first Canadian born head coach in the NBA, Triano was previously an assistant in Toronto from 2002-08.

Vanterpool, 39, joins the Trail Blazers bench after spending the past two seasons as a pro scout with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He played for European power CSKA Moscow from 2005-07, winning a Euroleague title there before becoming an assistant coach with the club upon retirement. Vanterpool was also a member of the Trail Blazers’ 2010 NBA Summer League coaching staff.

Appearing in 22 games for the Washington Wizards in 2000-01, Vanterpool played collegiately at St. Bonaventure.

An assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers for seven seasons (2003-10), Hughes, 60, finished the final 33 games of the 2009-10 season as interim head coach. He spent the previous five seasons with the Denver Nuggets, where he served as director of scouting, director of player personnel and assistant coach.

Cavaliers Name Koby Altman Pro Personnel Manager

The Cleveland Cavaliers have named Koby Altman Pro Personnel Manager.

In his role as Pro Personnel Manager, Altman will coordinate the team’s domestic professional scouting efforts and will assist General Manager Chris Grant and Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin with other player personnel related matters.

Altman, 29, joins the Cavaliers from Columbia University, where he served as an assistant coach for the past two seasons, while also leading Columbia’s developmental basketball program.

Altman played collegiately at Middlebury College, where he was a three-year starter at point guard.

Bulls Hire Brian Hagan As Assistant GM

The Chicago Bulls have hired Brian Hagen to be the team’s Assistant General Manager.

“Brian is someone I have thought for quite a while is one of the best young scouts and executives in the league," said Bulls General Manager Gar Forman.  "We are extremely pleased that he has decided to join the Chicago Bulls organization.”

Hagen spent the previous nine seasons with the New Orleans Hornets in a number of capacities with their Basketball Operations staff, most recently serving as the team’s Director of Player Personnel.  In that role, he coordinated the team’s amateur and professional scouting operations and assisted in the evaluation of free agents and prospective trade acquisitions.

While with the Hornets, he also spent time as the team’s video coordinator, Director of Basketball Operations, Director of Scouting and Assistant to the General Manager.
