The NBA's revenues increased increased dramatically with their new national television deals with ESPN and Turner that had an annual increase of 190 percent. 

ESPN and Turner renewed their deals with the NBA for $24 billion in October of 2014 and last through the 24-25 season.

Disney’s deal to televise NBA games, with its increase in step-up costs over last year, could shave as much as 5 percent off pre-tax profits.

Adam Silver and a group of owners who make up the labor relations committee have been regularly meeting with Michele Roberts and her staff from the NBPA in recent months to work on a new collective bargaining agreement. 

There is optimism that a new CBA can be reached by December.

The NBA is launching a major initiative to open global basketball academies that target the recruitment and development of teenage players to create pathways to higher education and professional basketball.

The initial push of development academies is starting in Africa, China, India and Australia with the hope of strengthening their potential pool of players.

The NBA’s vice president of international operations, Brooks Meek, is among the league executives coordinating the program.

The program will target players between the age of 14 and 18.

The NBA will provide coaching, strength and conditioning specialists, scouting, video and technical specialists, and will partner with local infrastructures to create what the NBA calls a “360 degree” development experience for the prospective players.

Around the NBA, some have described it as being similar to the old “G.I. Bill.”

For those uninterested or unable to pursue a college education, there will be vocational and life-skills training that partners with basketball.

The Los Angeles Clippers are nearing a deal with Prime Ticket that will allow the team to retain streaming rights. If the deal goes through, the Clippers will be the first major franchise to retain streaming rights.

Steve Ballmer was recently given a take-it-or-leave-it offer by Prime Ticket lasting two years.

The Clippers’ past deal with Prime Ticket ended in June.

Under the current terms, only current Prime Ticket customers would be allowed to stream the games.

LeBron James, Chris Paul and James Jones have been served with notices of deposition in former NBA players' union executive director Billy Hunter's wrongful termination lawsuit against the National Basketball Players Association.

Paul operates as union president, James as vice president and Jones as secretary treasurer. Hunter is suing the NBPA for $10.5 million in addition to attorney's fees, for compensation he did not receive after his dismissal in February 2013.

The two sides are scheduled for a hearing Nov. 3, wherein the NBPA legal team may appeal the order that it cede documents in discovery. Hunter's legal team has asserted that more depositions of NBA players are forthcoming.

Derek Fisher was previously served notice of deposition in February of this year.
