Frederic Weis, the much maligned 1999 1st round pick of the Knicks and Vince Carter's human prop, won't play in any summer leagues unless he is signed to a contract. New York doesn't want to offer one just yet. Thus Weis wants his rights traded elsewhere.

Marc Berman of the New York Post says that Weis' new agent Paco Belassen believes the June 27th Draft would be a perfect time for Layden to gauge what he can get for Weis' rights since a flurry of trades normally occur that night. The Knicks, who need size, don't have a first-round pick and are trying to move up into the first round by packaging their 39th and 43rd selections.
