According to the New York Post, Jeff Van Gundy sees the makings of something magical in Florida. Van Gundy forsees a dangerous Magic club, especially with the potential addition of Horace Grant. "If Grant Hill's healthy and you combine him with [Tracy] McGrady and [Mike] Miller, that's a heck of a perimeter," Van Gundy said yesterday following the Knicks' final summer-league practice. "Their big guys did a good job, but Patrick if he signs is going to give them their best low-post threat they've had for a big guy. In single coverage, he still can score effectively. They're as good as any team in the East if they're healthy."

Elsewhere, the Knicks remain interested in Clarence Weatherspoon but do not want to meet his request for a 5-year contract. The Knicks are also expected to lose out on Calvin Booth and Christian Laettner, who are both expected to re-sign with their former clubs.
