Give the RealGM Quote of the Week to injured Knicks center Luc Longley, who is on the verge of retirement and recently spoke of his shot ankles.  ''Like I told a writer the other day, I'm in great shape,'' Longley said. ''I could bench-press [Shaquille O'Neal]. I just can't guard him anymore. I shouldn't have tried to play on it in the Olympics. I really haven't been able to play or train on it for nearly a year.''

What Longley is referring to is his injured left ankle that caused him to miss all but 301 minutes over 25 games for the Knicks this past season, and cost them $5.75 million for their efforts.  During his time Longley averaged 2.0 points and 2.6 rebounds.

Longley is looking well beyond basketball and the Knicks, stating that he cannot walk without taking pain killers.  If Longley retires soon the Knicks could possibly get a $3.1 million injury exception to sign another free agent.
