So who do you believe?  New York head coach Jeff Van Gundy is saying yes, as reported in Wiretap under the Washington links, while his trainer Tim Grover is saying no, he most likely will not be ready.  The man in the spotlight, Michael Jordan, will not make any announcements until September.  So who do we believe in this 'he is coming back/he isn't coming back' fiasco?

Knowing MJ's intense desire to succeed, I guess we'll still have to wait for MJ's word...

Well according to Lacy Banks of the Chicago Sun-Times, Grover is is voicing doubt about whether MJ will be able to get into sufficient shape to attempt another NBA comeback.  ''If you had asked me this question before he had the setback with the ribs, I would have probably said yes,'' Grover said. But that setback with the ribs has thrown the timetable off so much that it's hard for me to say whether we will have enough time for him to properly prepare. Taking those four weeks off for the ribs to heal, that was very crucial. That's why I say no.''

But Grover later added: ''But while I'll be very surprised if he comes back under these unfortunate circumstances, I won't put anything past Michael. He is the greatest player and one of the most committed, competitive athletes I've ever met. I certainly am going to do everything in my power, just as I always do, to help him get prepared. It's just that there's an awful lot of work to do and so little time to do it.''
