'Michael Jordan spoke Monday about how he never lost his itch to play after the 1997-98 season, and that left Jerry Krause scratching his head.' writes Roman Modrowski of the Chicago Sun-Times.  While Jordan decided to walk away after hitting the winning shot of the 1998 Finals, Monday he implied he didn't want to leave at the time.  ''He didn't indicate that to us at all,'' Krause said. ''We tried like hell to get him to come back. We tried everything we could to get him to keep on playing, and he didn't want to do it.''

Jordan also stated that he didn't want to be apart of a rebuilding process, which leaves RealGM scratching our heads as the last time we looked the Wizards were not the Lakers, and he vowed he would not play for a coach other than Phil Jackson.  ''We told him at that time we would keep that group together, and we would have kept that group together as much as possible,'' Krause said. ''But that's life, and we go on."
