Israel Gutierrez of the Palm Beach Post reports: Pat Riley briefly flashed back to Michael Jordan's original comeback Saturday. He recalled Jordan scoring 55 points against Riley's Knicks, in Madison Square Garden, just five games into his return in March 1995.

So while watching the same Jordan, only in a Washington Wizards uniform, in a similar mode against Miami during the first quarter of an exhibition game, Riley asked Jordan not to repeat the feat.

"This is not going to be another New York," Riley shouted to Jordan as he ran past the Heat bench.

Jordan told Riley he couldn't score that many -- "because I'm not going to play that many minutes."

In only his second exhibition game since coming out of retirement a second time, Jordan scored 18 points in the first quarter. He added three rebounds and two steals, all in 12 minutes of first-half play that had the 16,500 fans at AmericanAirlines Arena mesmerized. The Heat, by the way, lost 99-79.
