This could be an (October)/November to remember for the Mavericks.
As much as my television broadcast partner Bob Ortegel warns me against doing it (that would be the PLAY ?EM ONE AT A TIME coach in him), I can't help myself in peaking ahead through the Mavs schedule for a sense of perspective as to what's around the next corner.
What I see is a stretch between now and the end of November loaded with opportunity for big success. Dallas' best ever October/November was an 11-4 mark in the '83-'84 season, I see no reason this team can't top that. Between Tuesday's opening triumph over Detroit and their final game in November (the 29th) against Sacramento, the Mavericks face 16 teams, 8 at home, 8 on the road. Only 7 of the16 were playoff teams last season.
