After saying the Suns will never win an NBA championship, Jason Kidd cut his old club a little slack Wednesday during an NBA teleconference.

He now says it will be "years" or "decades."

Kidd, who was traded with Chris Dudley to the New Jersey Nets in the deal that brought Stephon Marbury to Phoenix, has been firing shots at the Suns through the media.

He has described "negativity" in the club's coaching staff and said he was given the impression that he was considered "uncoachable." Suns coach Scott Skiles has disputed both assertions, according to Bob Young in the Arizona Republic.
