According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Grizzlies guard Michael Dickerson will sit out at least four weeks after learning his injury is more serious than originally diagnosed. A magnetic resonance imaging test revealed a stress fracture near the groin area of Dickerson's right leg.

"The doctors are comfortable predicting that it's going to be 30 days minimum. There's no telling a maximum of how many days it could be," general manager Billy Knight said Wednesday.

The void has caused the Grizzlies to again consider signing a free agent shooting guard. "Obviously, (Dickerson's injury) magnifies the whole situation where you definitely need to do it now," Knight said.

Jim Jackson, Todd Day, Bryant Notree and James Collins are on the Grizzlies' short list. Knight said he has spoken with the agent for each player.

The Grizzlies expressed interest in Jackson near the end of training camp when it was believed that Nick Anderson - Dickerson's backup - would not be healthy to start the season. But the Grizzlies cooled on the idea of signing Jackson when Anderson healed from a shoulder injury. A questionable reputation still hangs over Jackson, and also could come into play with Day. Cedric Ceballos, a reliable scorer, also is available.

Notree and Collins are younger players who were cut from the Grizzlies' training camp on Oct. 26. A minimum, non-guaranteed contract is what the Grizzlies likely will offer should they decide to sign either of those players.
