Chris Tomasson of the Akron Beacon-Journal reports: Had small forward Lamond Murray given the OK to a deal, he would have suited up last night at the Alamodome for San Antonio rather than for the Cavaliers.

Murray confirmed before the game that the Cavs tried to trade him to the Spurs during draft night last June. The deal, according to sources, would have had Murray and the No. 20 pick going to the Spurs for the No. 28 pick and forward Samaki Walker, then still under contract to San Antonio.

The Spurs, who wanted to take point guard Tony Parker at No. 20 but eventually got him at No. 28, nixed the deal when Murray would not opt out of the final two years of his seven-year, $29 million contract that expires after the 2005-06 season.

``I'm not doing nothing crazy like that,'' said Murray, who holds the option on the final two years. ``I wouldn't do nothing like that at this time.''

Cavs coach John Lucas, hired the week before the draft to replace the fired Randy Wittman, said he didn't know of any such deal. General Manager Jim Paxson did not immediately return a message.

``It's all good any time you hear a team wants you,'' Murray said. ``But I'm here with the Cavs.''

In other Cav news, Cavs forward Tyrone Hill apparently isn't hurting so badly that the Cavs are looking to trade him. Before dealing Bo Outlaw yesterday to Phoenix, sources said Magic officials offered him for Hill, who has yet to play this season due to what the team calls back spasms. The Cavs turned it down.
