Free agent Jim Jackson never made it th Memohis Friday, according to the Commercial Appeal. And apparently, the 31-year-old shooting guard never will. At least not to play for the Grizzlies, who announced Friday that they would not seek to sign Jackson after all.

According to Grizzlies general manager Billy Knight, Jackson was supposed to fly into Memphis in the morning. He was scheduled to take a physical and then both sides hoped to finalize a contract for the NBA minimum. Jackson, however, did not board a 10:30 a.m. flight from Detroit - the only reason given for why no meeting took place.

"We have decided to go in another direction," Knight said.
