The Grizzlies ended their search for insurance at the shooting guard position Monday when they settled on swingman Rodney Buford, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Buford, 24, participated in the team's workout Monday after signing a non-guaranteed contract worth roughly $460,000, or the NBA minimum for a three-year player.

The 6-5 guard/forward is described as an energy player with a decent outside shot, and the ability to score off the dribble. The Grizzlies wanted to add another player to the roster because guard Michael Dickerson is expected to miss at least a month with a stress fracture in his right leg.

Buford joins the team after the Grizzlies could not secure the services of nine-year veteran Jim Jackson.

Rookie Antonis Fotsis was placed on the injured list to make room for Buford on the roster.
