Allen Iverson stood near the sideline, his forearm grazing the chest of Detroit reserve Damon Jones. Play had been halted last night while the referee reset the clock, from 5.9 seconds remaining in the third quarter to 6.7.

Iverson did not need long. Those eight-tenths of a second were essentially meaningless.

Speedy Claxton inbounded the ball to Iverson, who cut around Jones and streaked down the court and through the lane, where he lofted a floater that bounced off the rim and through the basket, with 1.2 seconds to spare.

That basket spurred a 76ers comeback against the Pistons that, after a raucous fourth quarter, ended with the Sixers' sixth consecutive victory, 94-89, at the First Union Center.

The win was the team's sixth with Iverson in the lineup, and improved their overall record to 6-5. For the first time this season, the Sixers have more wins than losses. But it came with a price: Derrick Coleman sprained his left ankle and could miss the next few games.
