With the retirement of Matt Geiger and Derrick Coleman spraining his ankle, the Sixers were severely short-handed in the frontcourt. They took steps to remedy that situation today by signing free agent forward Michael Ruffin.

Ruffin was waived by the Bulls on October 25. The 6-8, 248-pounder played in 116 games, averaging 2.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench. In order to make room for Ruffin, the Sixers assigned rookie Alvin Jones to the injured list for the second time this season.
