The Washington Post reports that former NBA star Charles Barkley told HBO's "Real Sports" that he has lost weight and is willing to attempt a comeback to help out Michael Jordan, prompting several members of the Wizards' organization to proclaim Barkley's rant as yet another plea for attention.

There is no interest by Washington to even consider signing Barkley, two members of the organization said.

"Sure, if he lost weight," Jordan jokingly said about Barkley, who said he was down to 290 pounds. Jordan declined further comment but light-heartedly told a reporter not to ask him any more questions about Barkley and suggested that there are other teams that might be more in need of Barkley's services.

Wizards Coach Doug Collins tried to avoid answering questions about Barkley's suggestion but relented after conjuring up a straight face. "You got to love Charles. He's always going to have fun," Collins said. "The good part about it is he's always going to create a reaction from somebody. He throws something out there and wants people to follow it up."

The Post suggests that if the Wizards wanted to sign Barkley, it would take their total team salary over the anticipated team luxury tax threshold.

RealGM, on the other hand, believes there is still enough room to add Sir Charles at the veteran minimum salary and still not be in luxury tax territory.
