Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports: Jim Jackson, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard who has been off with his shot in recent seasons, became the latest 30-something to be added to Pat Riley's patchwork roster.

Jackson was when he was signed to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract Sunday at the prorated NBA minimum of $965,580.

Rookie forward Tang Hamilton was released to clear roster space.

Riley said he made the move because forward Kendall Gill, who had been thought to be on the verge of returning from a broken pinky, now is expected to miss two more weeks.
