Don Chaney met with New York Knicks president Scott Layden on Sunday to work on details of an agreement that would keep Chaney coaching the team at least for the rest of the season, according to the Associated Press.

``I'd love to coach here and if it works out, fine. I'm happy,'' Chaney said. ``I have two goals: To win a championship and to be a head coach. I won two championships as a player and I'd like to win one as a coach before I set sail.''

Many of the players are looking forward to the change, with Chaney taking a more laid back style not seen under Van Gundy, while the Knicks players themselves are looking forward to pushing the ball upcourt more than they did under Van Gundy while still playing strong Knicks defense.

A team spokesman said the Knicks would talk about their coaching job Monday.
