If there was a scene that told the story here Friday night it was this:

Timeout, 8:03 left in the game, and the Trail Blazers huddle, trailing 80-59 to the Utah Jazz. Steve Kerr, the mild-mannered guard, whips his towel on the Delta Center court. Hard.

"Humiliation," Kerr said after the game, shaking his head.

Just when the Blazers seem to hit bottom, another head-shaking loss hits, and this time it came in the form of a 93-85 loss to the Jazz that was much worse than the final score indicates.

The Blazers (10-11) are off to their worst start after 21 games since the 1982-83 season, and there doesn't appear to be any relief in sight. Before the game, Scottie Pippen went on the injured list with the same right knee problem that forced him to miss eight previous games. The team's No. 2 scorer, Bonzi Wells, did not play because of inflammation in his left knee, the same knee he had surgery on last spring.
