Point guard Sam Cassell confirmed Friday that he might sign a contact extension with the Milwaukee Bucks before Jan. 1.

"I'm not going to say I'm going to do it, but we're getting it written up," Cassell said. "It's up to me right now whether I want to take it."

The Bucks have placed a three-year, $17.1 million extension on the table for Cassell, who has two years left on a six-year, $21 million deal he signed four years ago while playing for New Jersey.

On Tuesday in Memphis, Cassell's agent, Charles Tucker, indicated that his client was prepared to accept some form of the Bucks' offer and would probably re-sign before the first of the year to reap contractual and tax benefits.
