Not to blow our own horn (well, that's exactly what it is) but the same corner that suggested Dave Cowens would be fired about a week before he was now has Scott Skiles in the crosshairs.

The Phoenix Suns coach is presiding over a team that's just going along, winning a couple, losing a couple (yep, just like Toronto a year ago) and is less than the sum of its parts.

And it would seem that Skiles realizes what's going on.

"It's obvious that in a lot of games we're not playing at an effort level that is necessary to win in the NBA," he said last week. "And in this business, the coach has to be held accountable. We're just flat out not playing hard enough in a lot of games to win.

"That's job No. 1 as a coach, to get your guys to play hard, and everything else falls in line. It just hasn't happened on enough nights."

Yikes.

Can Skiles survive the season? Maybe.

Will he be coaching the Suns next October? There's a better chance of Oliver Miller playing there again than the coach sticking around.
