So, how well did Scott Padgett play in the Jazz's 98-84 win over Phoenix on Tuesday night at the Delta Center?

Ask Karl Malone.

Thanks to an eye-popping effort by Padgett, Malone couldn't get into the game in the second quarter. The 14-time All-Star, future Hall of Famer and No. 2 all-time NBA scorer sat and watched as Utah's suddenly indispensable second unit outscored Phoenix 33-9. In those decisive 12 minutes, the Padgett-led Jazz wiped out a 30-18 deficit and built a 51-39 lead.

"Our second group . . . put us in a good situation," coach Jerry Sloan said. "They gave us a little life, a little energy. They executed well and gave us a chance to win the ballgame. They've done a good job lately . . . [and] that's huge for us."
