Harvey Araton of the New York Times takes a look at the dismal state of the Knicks. While there's lots of buzz about Don Chaney's performance, he targets the architect: Scott Layden.
He looks at how Rod Thorn has taken a poor team with salary cap problems and made it successful (and not expensive any more). By comparison, he describes the result of two-and-a-half year of Layden: "Mix it all together and what you get is a badly constructed team that is grossly overpaid."
Araton advises owner James Dolan to forget about whether Don Chaney should finish the year, and focus on the person who created a team he equates to the Titanic.
