Charolotte beat the Knicks 111 - 68 Monday, in the worst loss the Knicks have ever experienced at Madison Square Gardens.

The New York Times' Chris Broussard says it may also spell the end for interim coach Don Chaney, who is 4 - 16 since taking over from Jeff Van Gundy.  A better interpretation might be that Van Gundy knew when to get out.

Chaney's conclusion was that the team gave up: "I thought they threw in the towel. I thought they gave up. They really did."

The Hornets' PJ Brown was more emphatic.  Midway through the fourth quarter, Brown said to a reporter at the press table: "Are they trying to make some type of statement with this? Is there some kind of conspiracy going on over there?"
