With Chicago Bulls forward sweetening the pot by vowing to waive the remainder of his salary in exchange for his waiver, the New York Knicks are one team licking their chops in anticipation.  GM Jerry Krause stated that he is having a hard time moving Oakley due to his salary, and the team is having discussions about the possibility of waiving the veteran workhorse to grant his wish of playing on a winner.

Making $7.3 million this season, Oakley would have to clear waivers before signing with a team of his choice.  He has stated he is interested in the Knicks, Nets, Pacers, Cavaliers and Lakers.  He would have to be released by March 1 or he would not qualify for playoff action.
