The Timberwolves faced their past Wednesday night when they beat the Phoenix Suns and former point guard Stephon Marbury 107-92 at Target Center.

Now, they face an uncertain future.

Point guard Terrell Brandon, a two-time all-star in Cleveland, will have surgery Monday to repair a cartilage fracture on the surface of his left leg.

"I'm out for the rest of the year, that's for sure,'' Brandon said.

The new injury, discovered after a magnetic resonance imaging test Tuesday night, is unrelated to the surgery he had Dec. 20 to remove a pea-sized piece of cartilage from his left knee. It likely occurred during a normal twisting motion Feb. 1 during an overtime game against Boston.
