Another day passes and again Jalen Rose is in the headlines, this time back in Chicago.  A few days back there were reports in many media sites denying that the teams are discussing the trade, including one from Pacers GM Donnie Walsh, but if Ken Johnson's report in todays Chicago Tribune is true then the deal is still very much still alive and will go through if the Bulls pull the trigger.

Apparently the deal is being held back by Jerry Krause of the Bulls, but with a series of events occuring this week even he is coming around.

Johnson reports that Ron Artest missing the Cleveland game due to his hurt pinkie is the latest of such events, which would never be complete without Charles Oakley having something to say.  The decision for Artest to miss the game came after the video session Saturday morning where Artest's mistakes and turnovers were noted.  Nothing was said about him missing the game before this.

It is believed that Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf is in favor of the trade, but Krause is debating whether to make the trade due to the five years remaining on Rose's $95 million deal, the maximum allowable.

Krause did spend Saturday researching Rose, including talking to coaches and players, finding that 'Rose is known as a classy professional who likely would put aside his original disappointment once he realized he'd be option No. 1 and No. 1A as the Bulls' main veteran presence and proven scorer.'

The deal would see Ron Artest, Brad Miller and Charles Oakley move to the Pacers, returning Jalen Rose, Travis Best and Bruno Sundov to the Bulls.  Artest has stated he would prefer to remain in Chicago, but if he was traded he could live with it.

"If it happens, it happens," he said. "I'm fine with it. I just love to play ball."

According to the Detroit News Rose and Best have both been told by Donnie Walsh that they will not be traded.

"He talked to me about the commitment he made to me a year and a half ago when I was a free agent and about taking this team to where it was two seasons ago (the NBA Finals) and I believe him," Rose said.
