CHICAGO -- In a spectacular debut Wednesday, Jalen Rose had a game-high 36 points -- the highest-scoring game by a Bulls player this season -- in Chicago's 113-109 win over the New York Knicks.

Never mind that the Bulls have the NBA's worst record at 13-40. Rose, the swingman traded Tuesday by the Indiana Pacers, gave Chicago a new sports idol while scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter.

"Victory smells like a Rose," read a courtside sign that was partially obscured by the confetti that fell from the rafters at the United Center.
