Kenyon Martin has already had a run in with Karl Malone this season.  He has also thrown a punch at Tracy McGrady.  He also had a cheap shot at Bulls rookie Eddy Curry, elbowing him in the abdomin which drew his sixth technical point of the season, which also meant an automatic one game suspension.

So what is up with K-Mart?  Is he just an ultra-competitive win-at-any-cost machine or is he a punch-happy thug?  This very question takes on more weight in light of a report in the New York Post that Martin and Nets teammate Richard Jefferson got into it in the locker room after a loss to to the Trail Blazers.  The two had to be seperated by Aaron Williams.

"Let's just say it wasn't a very good night for the Nets," one of the sources said.

The incident, which occured during cooling-down moments before the media were allowed to enter, consisted of the two engaging an a shouting match before Martin apparently pinned Jefferson against a locker stall.

Nets officials were quiet about the incident, with Martin, Williams and team president Rod Thorn all giving the old "no comment" line.  "Nothing happened. On the court, I was talking to [the Blazers'] Bonzi Wells, and Kenyon told me to be quiet," was Jefferson's account.

Coach Byron Scott was also a "no comment" casualty, but did speak in general terms according to New York Post writer Fred Kerber.

"Do I worry about our team chemistry? No," Scott said "And why? Because we've had great chemistry all season long. The only thing the four-game losing streak has done for us is it's probably brought us closer together."
