Starters: Orlando -- guards Darrell Armstrong, Tracy McGrady; forwards Monty Williams, Pat Garrity; center Horace Grant. Phoenix -- guards Stephon Marbury, Joe Johnson; forwards Shawn Marion, Tom Gugliotta; center Jake Tsakalidis.
Magic notes: Orlando is hoping it can move up in the Eastern Conference standings with its favorable schedule down the stretch. Including tonight's game, Orlando plays 12 of its final 19 games at home. Orlando has won six in a row at home and is 19-10 at the TD Waterhouse Centre this season. . . . Orlando signed veteran shooting guard Dee Brown to a 10-day contract on Tuesday. Brown will fill the roster spot of Mike Miller, who is expected to miss three weeks because of a bone bruise and sprained left ankle. Brown missed the first 75 games of last season with a quadriceps tendon tear, but returned to help the Magic in the playoffs. He sank six 3-pointers in the playoffs against the Bucks. The 11-year veteran then retired in August and took a front-office job with the Magic. He practiced Monday and Tuesday, but is unlikely to play tonight. . . . Orlando is a respectable 12-13 this season against the rugged Western Conference. The Magic have three remaining games against Western Conference teams -- Phoenix, Denver and Houston -- and all have losing records.
Suns notes: This season has been a disaster for the Suns. Stephon Marbury, acquired in the blockbuster trade last summer, has had trouble meshing with his teammates. Head coach Scott Skiles was forced to resign last month. And past standouts Penny Hardaway and Tom Gugliotta have continued to struggle with injuries. . . . Hardaway, who spent his first six NBA seasons with the Magic, returns to Orlando for the second time since his 1999 trade to Phoenix. Hardaway recently was benched in favor of rookie Joe Johnson and he played just 4 minutes in Sunday's loss to Charlotte. . . . The game also will be a homecoming of sorts for Bo Outlaw. Outlaw, who played with the Magic the past five seasons, was traded to Phoenix earlier this season. Outlaw has fallen out of favor with new head coach Frank Johnson and is playing little of late. He no longer is starting and played just six minutes Sunday. . . . Orlando defeated the Suns 93-92 on Nov. 14 in Phoenix. Marbury had 25 points that night, but missed a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer. . . . Phoenix took an 11-18 road record into Tuesday's game in Miami.
Next for the Magic: Friday, vs. Denver Nuggets, 7:30 p.m. (Sunshine Network).
