Michael Heisley calls himself a fan.  He wants his team to win.  But there's the conundrum, according to Don Wade of the Memphis Commercial-Appeal.

If the Grizzlies aren't picking in the top five this June, their pick goes to Detroit from the disastrous Otis Thorpe trade.

Says Heisley: "Let me tell you, this is the most confusing experience I've had. I'd love for us to end up with 24 or 25 wins and still be the worst or next-to-worst team in the league.  This pick is very crucial to building this basketball team."

Heisley expects the Grizz would take Jason Williams or Yao Ming with the top pick.

In the related piece, Memphis officials and the Grizzlies are finalizing financing arrangements for the new arena.  It appears the length the Grizzlies must commit to playing in Memphis may increase to 17 years from the current 10 year guarantee.
