Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports: NBA owners will not vote April 9 on whether to allow the Hornets to move to New Orleans following this season, an NBA spokesman told The Observer this morning.

The Hornets' ability to reach the NBA's goal -- selling about 2,400 club-level seats in the New Orleans Arena -- was still in doubt. As of last Thursday, the Hornets were about 700 short of the target.

The NBA wanted ticket sales done by Wednesday, but has indicated it would be flexible about giving the Hornets more time.

The NBA had hoped to settle this matter at an owners' meeting in New York, but will now either have to schedule another meeting later this month or get representatives from all 29 teams on a conference call.

A majority vote is needed for the Hornets to be allowed to move to New Orleans.
