Marc Berman of the New York Post reports that there may be a shake-up in New Jersey. With the Nets getting swept last night by the Lakers, GM Rod Thorn is likely to tinker with the roster. And especially after Kenyon Martin and Jason Kidd both wondered if everyone left their hearts out on the court in this series, in Game 4.

It is not clear which players Martin was referring to, but it?s likely that Keith Van Horn is one of them. Jason Kidd, who will have some say in the Nets? offseason player moves, did not disagree with Martin. "I'll let K-mart have this one, I'm not going to get into that one," Kidd said. "He can handle all the controversy."

But then Kidd added, "I agree in the sense it was do-or-die since Game 1. If you don't show any kind of heart or any emotion at this point, maybe you shouldn't be playing. I'll back it up but I'll let him be at the head of that one."

It appears as if the most pressing needs for the Nets are a backup to Jason Kidd and an upgrade in the frontcourt. Van  Horn will most likely be used as trade bait, but it is unclear how much value he will have.

Bermnan speculates that Knicks point guard Charlie Ward would be a good fit on the Nets. The Knicks would love to give up Ward and break their point-guard logjam. Clearly he's a major upgrade over Anthony Johnson as Kidd?s backup. Kidd also might appreciate a more stable backup for his long-range health and the Nets will do anything to keep him happy.

Would the Nets give up a big man - like reserve Aaron Williams - to get a backup point guard such as Ward, since Jason Collins looks like the real thing in the middle?

Meanwhile, Van Horn, whose drawn interest from Jazz before, wants to stay, though last night could have been his last game as a Net. Without question, I definitely want to be here," Van Horn said.
