Latrell Sprewell was supposed to be a Piston long before he cracked his right hand. Or was it Minnesota? Atlanta? All the bogus and leaked trade rumors just blend together after awhile.

Yet another Sprewell-related trade rumor has surfaced, this time from a source you can actually trust: Dave D'Allessandro of the Neward Star-Ledger. And the object of New York's affection is apparently Chicago's Jalen Rose.

Citing two general managers, D'Allessandro reports that Knicks GM Scott Layden and Bulls VP Jerry Krause have had "several conversations" and that such a deal appears to be "a trade of talented undesirables".

But before Knick fans start warming up to the idea, it is already getting shot down in Chicago. Roman Modrowski of the Chicago Sun-Times says sources have told him that Krause wants no part of Sprewell. Conversations have taken place, Modrowski confirms, but Krause is just being an intent listener.

That might not preclude the two teams from making a different trade. Modrowski says Krause might consider trading Marcus Fizer to the Knicks, who would use their Disabled Player Exception to acquire him. Krause also is prepared to trade Jamal Crawford, a league source said.
