Pro basketball's "Odd Couple" got its start in a small dorm room at Niagara College nearly 50 years ago, a room where basketball was life, baseball was a close second -- and the mess was usually Layden's.
   
"He was the fastidious one," Layden said of his former roommate, who leads the Memphis Grizzlies into the Delta Center tonight. "We were opposites in a lot of ways."
