Shira Springer of the Boston Globe reports that the Celtics are poised to make a roster move. Now that the new ownership has been sworn in, it is just a matter of time before they give the OK to add a 13th player to the team.

Celtics coach Jim O?Brien wouldn?t give any names, but he knows what kind of player he has in mind. ''I'd say the two characteristics [we're looking for] would be veteran and tough. We're definitely not looking at the point or the 2 [shooting guard]. We're very pleased with our guards. There's not necessarily one name, but there's a bunch of names that we always have in our data file, that we would track and make a decision about how a particular person would fit into our team, what he would bring to the team on the court and off the court.

''You can always be tougher. You want guys that understand this is a marathon, that this takes tremendous physical and mental stamina.''

Springer adds that on the Celtics' short list of available players are: Horace Grant, Grant Long, Danny Manning, Oscar Torres, Amal McCaskill, Soumaila Samaki, Dana Barros, and Tyrone Nesby.
