According to a report by Steve Bulpett in the Boston Herald, center Tony Battie underwent a battery of tests on his right knee yesterday with an eye toward arthroscopic surgery that could put him out of the lineup until late February or March.

Battie has been bothered by knee soreness since training camp, and until the Memphis game he has been able to play through the pain.  He will not play against the Portland Trailblazers tonight either.

Should Battie opt for surgery the Celtics will be key players in the free agent market, especially with 10 day contracts coming into effect on Monday.

Danny Manning, Grant Long, Soumaila Samake and Amal McCaskill all remain options for the Celtics.
