For a fifth straight game, Jerry Sloan was absent.

But his presence was felt Wednesday night at the Delta Center.

With the Jazz down by seven at halftime of an eventual 105-84 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, acting coach Phil Johnson claims he beckoned Utah's suspended head coach.

"I called Jerry during halftime," Johnson cracked, "and wanted to know what I should do."

With Sloan unreachable ? if you believe Johnson really tried to phone him ? it was up to the Jazz to figure things out for themselves.

In their last game before the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend, that was no small task.
