Sid Hartman of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports: When his contract set to expire in about a year and a half, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett says the opportunity to play with a championship team, and not money, will be the top factor in whether or he signs another contract with the Timberwolves when his current deal expires.

"I've been here for eight years," Garnett said after the Wolves' victory over New Orleans on Friday. "I think the important thing is to put a team together for the city, not just for myself or the organization, but to put a solid team that can make a six-to eight-year run at the championship and be solid and consistent. I think that's what's important. That's all that concerns me."

Garnett said he has never stated before that he might not sign another contract with the Wolves. "I never said that, but that may be the case some day," he said.

However, Owner Glen Taylor said that he will be able satisfy Garnett and sign him.

In satisfying him, he probably means surrounding him with the necessary talent to win a championship or at the very least, getting out of the first round.
