Gregg Popovich won the NBA Coach of the Year award Monday for leading the San Antonio Spurs to the league's best record.

Popovich, the first Spurs coach to win the award, received 282 points, including 40 first-place votes. Points were awarded on a 5-3-1 basis.

Warriors first-year coach Eric Musselman finished second with 231 points, including 26 first-place votes, and the Utah Jazz's Jerry Sloan had 143 points and 18 first-place votes. Thirteen coaches received at least one first-place vote.
