Memories of a second Central Division title and overcoming a 3-1 deficit to Orlando in the first round were swept away Saturday night as the New Jersey Nets won their 10th straight playoff game, a 102-82 verdict at Continental Airlines Arena to advance to the NBA Finals for the second straight year.

The storyline never really changed in the four games; the Nets outhustled the Pistons, piled on the fast-break points, dominated in the paint and scooped up every loose ball against the top seed in the Eastern Conference, who trailed by double digits in each game on the road in the short series.

``We forced 17 turnovers but didn't have a single fast-break point,'' said Chucky Atkins. In the two games here we stood around too much on offense and they were able to take advantage of that.''
