Incumbent Raptors assistant coaches Craig Neal, Walker Russell and Jay Triano will be offered jobs somewhere in the Toronto organization for next season, according to sources.

However, it's uncertain if they all will be given the option to remain as assistant coaches under new head coach Kevin O'Neill.

As reported in The Saturday Sun yesterday, the Raptors are going to choose O'Neill as their new head coach over the other finalists, Dwane Casey and Sam Mitchell. Barring a 180-degree turn by the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, Ltd., board of directors or a contractual impasse, O'Neill will be offered a deal that runs for three years (the third year could be a team option), with a starting salary of $1.8 million US.

An official announcement regarding the hiring of O'Neill will be made this week, perhaps as early as tomorrow, but maybe not until Wednesday or Thursday. General manager Glen Grunwald and the team's scouting staff have arranged workouts with draft-eligible players such as Chris Bosh of Georgia Tech and Mike Sweetney of Georgetown this week, too -- some in Toronto, some on the road -- so the coaching announcement will be squeezed in somewhere.
