The San Antonio Spurs have nothing on the Timberwolves, with the possible exception of:

? Two NBA championships in the past five years. For perspective's sake, make that two NBA championships, period.

? A multidimensional power forward and on-court leader who, with free agency approaching in the prime of his career, generates nary a whisper or drum beat anymore of potentially leaving his team.

? About $15 million in salary-cap space this offseason to lure one or two more stars.

A 21-year-old point guard who, on certain nights, ranks among the top five at his position. And if Tony Parker matures, shaking the inconsistency and unpredictability, he soon might rank up there for seasons at a time, even years to come.
