The Celtic basketball operation may soon be in a state of flux, with general manager Chris Wallace and assistant coach John Carroll possibly having opportunities to move on.

Wallace is on the very short list for the GM position in Portland and is expected to know his fate this weekend at the latest. Carroll, meanwhile, may have a chance to join the staff of Toronto's new head coach, Kevin O'Neill.

The Trail Blazers are down to Wallace, New Jersey Nets scouting director Ed Stefanski and their own assistant GM, Mark Warkentein, in their search and are said to be very close to a decision. Wallace and Stefanski are reportedly the front-runners.

``I think Chris did a great job when he spoke with them,'' said his agent, Warren LeGarie. ``I think Chris set the bar, and others have been trying to jump to that level."
