San Antonio lawmakers missed a River Walk parade for the Spurs, but they slammed a resolution Thursday on the House of Representatives that praised the NBA champions.

The Alamo City congressmen ? forced to stay in the nation's capital for legislative business ? joined in the Spurs celebration with words of tribute to the team, coach, Most Valuable Player Tim Duncan and retiring center David Robinson.

"Few players represent their teams and their cities with such class and dignity," said Rep. Lamar Smith, R-San Antonio, who introduced the resolution congratulating the Spurs.

The official tribute was sponsored by the entire San Antonio congressional delegation, which clearly reveled in the victory and took good-natured jabs at their colleagues from New Jersey.
