Glen Grunwald is making one last quick trip to New York today to check out the latest hot commodity the Raptors might take in tomorrow's NBA draft.

The general manager, blowing off a scheduled meeting with Toronto-area media, will attend a workout by Texas point guard T.J. Ford in New York, according to a team source.

As well, 7-foot Polish centre Marcej Lampe is also scheduled to work out under Grunwald's watchful eye.

However, it is Ford who has caught the fancy of the Raptor basketball brain trust, according to rumours circulating around the league yesterday afternoon.

The 5-foot-10 guard, who led Texas to the NCAA Final Four, is known for his superior passing skills and leadership ability and has shot the ball well enough in pre-draft workouts that a poor shooting percentage in college ? less than 35 per cent from three-point range ? is no longer a serious concern.
