The Grizzlies will have a 12-man roster when they head to the West Coast on Sunday for the start of a nine-game schedule in the Los Angeles summer league on Monday.

Eight of the spots already are reserved - six for players off this past season's team and two for draft choices Troy Bell and Dahntay Jones.

That means starting this evening at 5 p.m. at Rhodes College, the first of five two-hour mini-camp sessions in the next three days should yield four players who get a chance to impress.

Returnees Earl Watson, Mike Batiste, Ryan Humphrey, Chris Owens, Robert Archibald and Cezary Trybanski form the core of the summer league team that will be coached by assistants Lionel Hollins, Brendan Brown and Dr. Hal Wissel and workout coach John Welch.

"We're fortunate to have six guys who played for us last year participate," Hollins said. "It's a chance for some of them who didn't play a lot last year to play as much as possible and develop."
