Jason Kidd flew into town late Sunday afternoon, promising only to stay one night, as the Spurs continued their attempts to woo him into making a more permanent return trip.

Kidd chartered a private jet for the trip and arrived with his wife, Joumana, at 4:30 p.m. The couple, who did not bring their son T.J., were greeted on the tarmac by Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and whisked in a black limousine van to the Westin La Cantera, where team officials had reserved accommodations for them.

With the exception of dinner at Popovich's home, the Spurs planned few activities for the Kidds on Sunday. Kidd has given team officials little reason - either Sunday or in a meeting with Popovich earlier in the week in New Jersey - to be encouraged or discouraged about their chances of signing him.

While team officials are expected to intensify their courtship of Kidd today, they also may have some work left on selling Tony Parker on the idea of adding another point guard to their backcourt.

Publicly, Parker has said he is open to playing with Kidd. But privately he has told others, including teammates, that he has some concerns about how the pairing would work and his future with the team.

Parker's agent, Marc Fleisher, has urged him to be more aggressive in expressing any concerns to Spurs officials, a league source said. But Parker, both the source and Spurs officials said, has yet to do so.
