The Knicks are still trying to pry Antoine Walker away from the Celtics. A team official recently contacted Louisville coach Rick Pitino for a scouting report on Walker, according to a league source.

Pitino recruited Walker at Kentucky and also drafted him when he was running the Celtics.

Danny Ainge, Boston's new GM, would be willing to trade the 6-9 forward if the right deal came along. The Celtics, however, do not appear to have much interest in Latrell Sprewell. A trade involving Kurt Thomas and Charlie Ward would make more sense, but the feeling around the Celtics is that they can get more for their second-best player.

The Knicks and Celtics discussed a deal for Walker the day after the NBA draft.

Knicks president Scott Layden is trying to trade Sprewell, Thomas and Ward but has found few takers.
